Learning and Development

The EYFS is a framework for learning, development and care for children from birth to eight. Its purpose is not to introduce a curriculum for babies and young children, or to force children to read or write before they are ready. Quite the reverse, it focuses on ensuring that each individual child can learn through high quality play that is tailored to them so that they develop at their own pace. Keyworkers

The keyworker approach is an effective way of enabling children to develop a strong relationship with a significant adult in the nursery. It also enables each child to fell secure and cared for, helping them to become familiar with the nursery environment and develop confidence and a feeling of security within it.

When your child starts with us a keyworker will be responsible for their care. The keyworker will ensure that the needs of each child in their care are met and will build up a relationship of trust through a process of responding sensitively to their feelings and bahavior. The keyworker will be best suited to understanding your child's individual needs and to share and discuss information with parents about their child's time at nursery.

We Believe in Working Together

Successful cooperation between parents and nursery staff is important because it also has an effect on your child's development.

We strongly encourage parents to be involved with what happens in the nursery and we highly value any comments and contributions that you might have.

Tapestry

Tots 2 Toddlers use the Tapestry system that is for childcare settings and parents. Tapestry has been designed and developed to ensure we meet the required areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum quickly, simply and efficiently.

Tapestry allows you as a parent to connect to the system to view information relating to your child, for example you can view your child's photographs, achievements, termly reports and much more.

In addition you as the parents can contribute by sharing photographs and observations. Tapestry is a great way to communicate and share your child's 'wow moments'.

Achievement Books

Each child will also have a paper based Achievement Book. We believe even though the online systems are great, a 'keepsake' is very precious too. The books will share children's 'wow moments'  with photos, art work or even showing off their new writing skills. Children will take these home once they've graduated here at Tots 2 Toddlers.
