Forest School Approach

Forest School Approach

Tots 2 Toddlers Forest School Approach offers all children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning either in our very own mini Forest School garden or in the woodlands nearby.

What are the benefits of Forest School?

  • Increase self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Development of physical skills
  • Demonstration of an improved relationship with and understanding of the outdoors
  • Increased levels of creativity and imagination
  • Increased levels of motivation and concentration
  • Development of language and communication skills

What happens at Forest School?

Sessions take place all year round so children can experience seasonal changes and learn to be resilient in cold and wet weather.

Children will explore the woodlands, be encouraged to complete and participate in games, practical tasks and sensory activities that help children develop personally and socially. The woodlands provide opportunities for imaginative and creative play, using the space to transform logs into animals, buses and bridges. Other woodland activities are; collecting and counting things, making/describing shapes, building shelters and learning about the wildlife they observe.

What kit is needed?

Parents are asked to provide waterproofs, wellies, spare clothes, hat, scarf and gloves. The nursery provides each child with a snack, drinking water, milk and in the colder months a flask of hot chocolate (allergies and intolerances will be catered for).
