Tots 2 Toddlers
Forest School Approach
Tots 2 Toddlers Forest School Approach offers all children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning, either in our very own mini Forest School garden or in the woodlands near by.
What are the benefits of Forest School?
What happens at Forest School?
Sessions take place all year round so children can experience seasonal changes and learn to be resilient in cold and wet weather.
Children will explore the woodlands, be encouraged to complete and participate in games, practical tasks and sensory activities that help children develop personally and socially. The woodlands provide opportunities for imaginative and creative play, using the space to transform logs into animals, buses and bridges. Other woodland activities are; collecting and counting things, making/describing shapes, building shelters and learning about wildlife.
A typical programme for the day is as follows:
10am - A healthy snack in Tots 2 Toddlers Nursery
10:30am - Off to the woods or our own Forest School garden for some woodland fun!
12noon - Return to the nursery for a debriefing and think about what we have learnt
12:30 - Lunch
We have a time table of when children go on their Forest School experience. Babies will explore our Mini Forest School garden, as well as toddlers and preschool when they're not on trips to the woodlands.
What kit is needed?
Parents are to provide waterproofs, wellies, spare clothes, hat, scarf, gloves, a bag and a water bottle.
